Beatmo is a unique and vibrant band, bringing forward a sound and energy that crosses all music genres, cultures, and styles. Brought together from ties of friends, family, and a shared love for music, Beatmo emerged from the greater Los Angeles area during the spring of 2006. Their dynamic sound combines a variety of influences, fusing New Wave and Rock with Latin and Funk, and echoing the likes of The Cure, Blondie, Radiohead, and Café Tacuba. Completing the band is the dynamic vocals of Alexis de la Rocha. A true stage presence, Alexis sings in both English and Spanish; her vocal stylings emanate the haunting wails of Siouxsie Sioux and raw edginess of Karen O, infused with a refined, sophisticated jazz vibe. In July 2007, their EP BigShot was released on Desolate Records, from which their song "Treasure Hunt" was chosen as Filter Magazine's Latin Alternative MP3 of the Month.
